Fanzinología Mexicana 1985-2015

Published by Museo Universitario del Chopo & Gatosaurio

Mexico / 2015

Compilation featuring a selection from the graphic and visual narrative of three decades of mexican fanzines. The work collected was originally self-published in limited runs by and for underground niches formed by punks, queer activists, artists and amateurs among others. This book intends to collect and highlight these obscure publications and also to be a reference for contextualizing mexican zines. This is the first effort of its kind in Mexico.

Edited by Enrique Arriaga and Inés Estrada, with material they both collected for la
Fanzinoteca del Museo Universitario del Chopo in Mexico City. Arriaga started la Fanzinoteca in 2014 as a zine archive and a cycle of exhibitions at the museum. Book design by Inés Estrada, with a cover illustration by Edwin Sandoval.
